Filled puff pastry rolls with various fillings
Ingredients:
- 1 pack of puff pastry (from the refrigerated section)
- Various fillings of your choice, e.g.:
- Spinach and feta cheese
- Tomato, mozzarella and basil
- Peppers, onions and feta cheese
- Broccoli and cheddar cheese
- 1 egg (whisked, as ice cream spreads)
Directions:
- Preheat the oven according to the instructions on the puff pastry package.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured work surface and cut it into squares or rectangles, depending on which shape you prefer.
- Place a portion of your chosen filling on one half of each piece of dough. Be careful not to use too much filling so that the rolls can be sealed well.
- Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges together with a fork to seal.
- Repeat this process for all puff pastry pieces and filling combinations.
- Place the filled puff pastry rolls on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
- Brush the top of the rolls with the beaten egg to give them a nice golden color.
- Bake the rolls according to the instructions on the puff pastry package until golden brown and crispy.
- Allow the filled puff pastry rolls to cool slightly before serving.
Tips:
- Experiment with different fillings to add variety. You can also use leftover cooked meat or vegetables.
- Make sure to drain or cool the filling well before adding it to the puff pastry to prevent the dough from becoming too wet.
- Serve the filled puff pastry rolls warm or at room temperature as a snack, appetizer or part of a buffet.
