The manufacturing process of Kahla Porcelain – art meets craftsmanship

At SmacoGlas, we are proud to collaborate with Kahla Porcelain, a brand known for its exquisite craftsmanship and innovative spirit. The manufacturing process of Kahla Porcelain is a perfect example of the symbiosis of traditional technique and modern technology.

From Earth to Work of Art

The process begins with the selection of the finest natural raw materials – kaolin, feldspar and quartz. These are carefully mixed to form the mass from which the porcelain is later made.

shaping with precision

In the factory, the mass is then poured, turned or isostatically pressed. This step requires not only mechanical precision, but also the skilled craftsmanship of experienced porcelain makers who make each piece unique.

Burning – The fire that refines

After shaping, the porcelain is fired in two firings at 900 °C and then at 1400 °C. These high temperatures are necessary to achieve the strength and the characteristic brilliant whiteness of the porcelain.

Finishing – The artistic touch

After firing, the porcelain can be refined. This is done using techniques such as screen printing, painting or airbrushing. Colors and patterns are applied and then fired in another firing to ensure the longevity of the designs.

Touch! – The tactile sensation

A special feature of some Kahla products is the coating with the velvety soft “touch!” surface. This combination of cool porcelain and a soft texture offers a unique tactile experience.

sustainability in focus

Kahla Porcelain is not only known for its aesthetics, but also for its commitment to the environment. The manufacturer has invested in innovative production technologies that reduce CO2 emissions and produce in a resource-efficient manner. The company's photovoltaic system generates electricity from solar energy, which is used for porcelain production.
